Dwarf hamster eating a grape

My robo dwarf hamster, Blueberry, eating a grape. That sounds kind of weird. The grape was too big for it and it's actually shared with his cage-mate, Ichigo, so it's not like he's eating the whole thing.

Dwarf hamsters are able to eat some fresh food including seedless grapes but fresh food should not be their main diet. The hamsters need a hamster mix as their core diet and you can supplement the mix with fresh fruit and vegetables now and then. About two to three times a week should be fine.

Not all fresh food is safe for dwarf hamsters. Avocados, for example, contain a substance that can cause heart failure in pets if eaten in large amounts.

You can find a small list of safe foods for dwarf hamsters on our main blog.
