Dwarf hamster eating a grape

My robo dwarf hamster, Blueberry, eating a grape. That sounds kind of weird. The grape was too big for it and it's actually shared with his cage-mate, Ichigo, so it's not like he's eating the whole thing.

Dwarf hamsters are able to eat some fresh food including seedless grapes but fresh food should not be their main diet. The hamsters need a hamster mix as their core diet and you can supplement the mix with fresh fruit and vegetables now and then. About two to three times a week should be fine.

Not all fresh food is safe for dwarf hamsters. Avocados, for example, contain a substance that can cause heart failure in pets if eaten in large amounts.

You can find a small list of safe foods for dwarf hamsters on our main blog.

Dwarf hamster grooming itself

Here's Blueberry the dwarf hamster grooming himself with his feet. He was actually half sleeping when I filmed this. Notice his eyes are almost closed.

Dwarf hamsters don't need to be bathed because they frequently groom themselves. If you want to, you could also get them a hamster bath tub and some bathing sand which they will happily roll in.

Robo dwarf hamster attacking hamster house

This video was taken when I let Blueberry, the robo dwarf hamster out to play. He's actually in a "safe" area of my room that's barricaded from everything else. It's a huge space with lots of other toys but for some reason he went to the side of the orange hamster house and started scratching at it at non-stop.

Not that it's a bad thing though. Dwarf hamsters have nails that keep growing so if they don't scratch at stuff, their nails get overgrown and even curl! Doing all these scratching will probably ensure his nails are kept short :)
'Hamster House'

These hamster/gerbil baths on Amazon are similar to the ones I'm using as a hamster house in the video above. Although it's advertise as a bath, you can use it as a hamster house with no problems. In fact, my robos love sleeping in this, probably because it's pretty cozy if you get the smallest one.

Roborovski hamster eating food from hand

This is a video of my dwarf hamster, Blueberry, eating hamster mix from my hand. Blueberry is an occasional biter. He bites when he's in a bad mood but because he's so small, the bites are more surprising than painful.
In this video, he's eating the Witte Molen brand of hamster mix. He eats almost everything in it but always leaves out the red and brown pellets. I wonder why?

Dwarf hamster runs non-stop on wheel

This is Ichigo the dwarf hamster and he runs really fast on his hamster wheel. The embed video switches off the sound by default so click on the top left corner to hear the sound of him running on his wheel. I managed to capture it in a way so that if you're watching this on Vine and not paying a lot of attention, you'll probably miss the first loop.

Are you filming me?

I was just filming my Roborovskis when Blueberry, the dwarf hamster on the right, noticed my iPhone. He walked nearer and then got scared and ran to hide behind his hamster house. So cute xD
